Repatriation
Greetings, I pray this finds you well. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in the sight of the Most High Creator.
InI lived in Shashamane, Ethiopia for 7 1/2 months from July of 2005 to March of 2006. When we left the States for Ethiopia we had no plan of returning. We sold and gave away everything we could not fit in the 5 bags we were taking with us. We did not know where we would go once we arrived in the airport in Addis Ababa. We only knew that Mother Ethiopia was pulling and calling us with a force that we could not ignore, a power that we had to submit ourselves and our lives to.
Ethiopia herself was our teacher. The land spoke to us, showed us what we needed for our life and showed us what could be of benefit to others. The land told us the history, rituals and livity of our ancestors who walked on the same soil. The land showed us her wealth in the minerals visible to the naked eye while we planted our food. The trees told us their story as we cut and broke them to use as firewood to cook our food. The Moon was so close it seemed as if we could grab a piece of it. The stars were too numerous to even fathom the amount. And our connection to the Most High was so strong because of the powerful land that we walked on, the simplicity of our life and a closer relationship with nature.
We came forward to the States to move some works and because I had a dream of Harriet Tubman, where she said in the dream that I should go back and bring others to build a community and to help build wells and begin substainable and organic farming.
It is our goal with all of the works that we do as a family to be able to move forward to Ethiopia and build our home; at the same time with more energy and your help we can build wells, contribute art and reading supplies to schools, and begin to rebuild Ethiopia as Ethiopia rebuilds our spirits.
Abundant Blessings to you and yours
